The snow level has risen, the sun and wind have come out to dry our winter trails…time to go riding!
Looking at last year’s calendar, our riding season is behind by a full month this year! Temperature’s are also 10c lower than last year.
I had 4 months on my new Beta Xtrainer last season and Sunday was my first real ride of the season!
We have a couple of “early season” riding areas, where trails are at lower elevations and have southern exposure to melt the snow.
This is the first time I’ve taken the Xtrainer to this area, where I managed to ride 4 new parts that I wasn’t able to ride on my old HondaCRF150. I dialed down the power a touch, which helps with throttle control. This bike also has bigger wheels than the 150, making for much smoother lines.
Along with my clutching skills from trials bike riding and the Xtrainer’s lower gears also helped to control my speed on the tight switchbacks and sweeping corners.
Lookin’ forward to next weekend!
